Salen Hawkins, sophomore infielder, transfers to Alabama Softball

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Rising sophomore infielder Salen Hawkins will transfer to the Alabama softball team following his freshman season at Mississippi State University.

Hawkins started 52 games with the Bulldogs last year, batting .294 (40-for-136) with 22 runs scored and 26 RBIs and was selected to the NFCA All-South Region third team. On March 12, she was named SEC Freshman of the Week after going 5-for-8 with four RBIs in the series win over Ole Miss and her 11 multi-hit games on the season were the most of any Mississippi State freshman since 2018. She was a high school teammate of current Crimson Tide pitcher Jocelyn Briski at Desert Vista High School and was named All-Region player and Offensive MVP on the 2021 conference championship team.

Hawkins is the eighth newcomer scheduled to join #Team29 in the fall of 2024, joining transfers Emily Winstead (RHP – UNC Wilmington), Catelyn Riley (RHP – Ole Miss), Alexis Pupillo (UTIL – Northern Iowa) and freshmen Braya Hodges (P – Dothan, Alabama), Mari Hubbard (IF – Huntsville, Alabama), Kennedy Marceaux (IF – Kaplan, Louisiana) and Audrey Vandagriff (OF – Bogart, Georgia). Alabama hopes to return 11 players from its 2024 Women’s College World Series team.
