Avalanche signs Calum Ritchie | Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed a forward Calum Ritchie to a three-year entry-level contract.

Ritchie19, played for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL in 2023-24, where he recorded 80 points (28 goals/52 assists) in 50 regular season games and ranked sixth in the league at 1.60 points per game. The center missed the Generals’ first 17 games due to a shoulder injury. Despite appearing in 50 games, Ritchie was Oshawa’s all-time leader in assists and points and finished third in goals en route to the Generals finishing first in the Eastern Conference. In the postseason, Ritchie scored 30 points (8 goals/22 assists) in 21 OHL playoff games, ranking second in the league and helping Oshawa to an appearance in the OHL Finals.

The 6’2″ and 185lb forward played his third OHL season last season, scoring 184 points (71 goals/113 assists) in 174 regular season games from 2021-2024. During that time, Ritchie improved by 14 points from 2021-2023 and 21 points from 2022-2024 compared to the previous year. Despite only playing 59 games in the 2022-2023 season, he finished third on the team in points. He was named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team in his 2021-2022 season. In the postseason, Ritchie scored 43 points (14 goals/29 assists) in 32 OHL playoff games with the Generals from 2021-2024.

On the international level, Ritchie represented Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF U-18 World Championship, where he scored nine points (3g/9a), finished third in the team score and helped Canada to the bronze medal. The Brampton, Ontario native also secured a gold medal with Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he tied for the lead among all skaters with 10 points (4g/6a) in five appearances.

Ritchie was selected by Colorado in the first round (27th overall) in the 2023 NHL Draft. He has participated in each of the last two Avalanche Development Camps.
